Keyboard shortcutsKeyboard shortcuts are combinations of keyboard strokes and clicks that you can use to perform specific actions, such as taking a screenshot. Knowing some of the shortcuts listed below can help save you time.

You can also press Ctrl+Alt+? whenever you're signed in on your Chromebook to see a map of these shortcuts directly on the screen

Tabs and windows

Ctrl+N Open a new window

Ctrl+Shift+N Open a new window in incognito mode

Ctrl+T Open a new tab

Ctrl+O Open a file in the browser

Ctrl+Shift+Q (twice) Sign out of your Google Account on Chrome OS

Ctrl+W Close the current tab

Ctrl+Shift+W Close the current window

Ctrl+Shift+T Reopen the last tab you've closed. Google Chrome remembers the last 10 tabs you've closed.

Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+8 Go to the tab at the specified position in the window

Ctrl+9 Go to the last tab in the window

Alt+1 through Alt+8 Go to the window at the specified position

Alt+9 Go to the last window open

Ctrl+Tab Go to the next tab in the window

Click and hold the Back or Forward arrow in the browser toolbar See your browsing history for the tab

Ctrl+Shift+B Toggle the display of the bookmarks bar. Bookmarks appear on the New Tab page if the bar is hidden.

Shift+Alt+S Opens the status area in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Shift+Alt+L Place focus on the launcher

• Press Tab or the right arrow to focus on the next item in the toolbar
• Press Shift+Tab or the left arrow to focus on the previous item in the toolbar
• Press Space or Enter to activate buttons, including page actions and browser actions
• Press Shift + increase volume key to open the context menu for the button (if available).
• Press Esc to return focus to the page

Ctrl + back button or Ctrl + forward button Pressing Ctrl and either the back or forward keys switches focus to the next keyboard-accessible pane. Panes include:

• Status area containing the time, network icon, and battery icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen
• Launcher
• Address bar
• Bookmarks bar (if visible)
• The main web content (including any infobars)
• Downloads bar (if visible)

Alt+Shift+B Place focus on the bookmarks bar. Use the actions listed for Shift+Alt+T to move the focus.

Alt+E or Alt+F Open the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar

Shift+Search+Volume Up Open right-click menus for focused items.

Ctrl+Alt+Z Enable or disable accessibility features if you're not signed in with a Google Account. If you're signed in, you can configure the accessibility feature on the Settings page.

اس خاتون سے ہوائی اڈے پر جہاز کے انتظار میں وقت ہی نہیں کٹ پا رہا تھا۔ کچھ سوچ کر دکان سے جا کر وقت گزاری کیلئے ایک کتاب اور کھانے کیلئے بسکٹ کا ڈبہ خریدا۔ واپس انتظار گاہ میں جا کر کتاب پڑھنا شروع کی۔ اس عورت کے ساتھ ہی دوسری کرسی پر ایک اور مسافر بیٹھا کسی کتاب کا مطالعہ کر رہا تھا۔ ان دونوں کے درمیان میں لگی میز پر رکھے بسکٹ کے ڈبے سے جب خاتون نے بسکٹ اٹھانے کیلئے ہاتھ بڑھایا تو اسے یہ دیکھ کر بہت حیرت ہوئی کہ اس ساتھ بیٹھے مسافر نے بھی اس ڈبے سے ایک بسکٹ اٹھا لیا تھا۔ خاتون کا غصے کے مارے برا حال ہو رہا تھا، اس کا بس نہیں چل رہا تھا، ورنہ تو وہ اُس کے منہ پر اس بے ذوقی اور بے ادبی کیلئے تھپڑ تک مارنے کا سوچ رہی تھی۔

اس کی حیرت اس وقت دو چند ہوگئی جب اس نے دیکھا کہ جیسے ہی وہ ڈبے سے ایک بسکٹ اٹھاتی وہ مسافر بھی ایک بسکٹ اٹھا لیتا۔ غصے سے بے حال وہ اپنی جھنجھلاہٹ پر بمشکل قابو رکھ پا رہی تھی۔
جب ڈبے میں آخری بسکٹ آن بچا تو اب اس کے دل میں یہ بات جاننے کی شدید حسرت تھی کہ اب یہ بد تمیز اور بد اخلاق شخص کیا کرے گا، کیا وہ اب بھی اس آخری بسکٹ کی طرف ہاتھ بڑھائے گا یا یہ آخری بسکٹ اس کیلئے رکھ چھوڑے گا؟تاہم اس کی حیرت اپنے عروج پر جا پہنچی جب مسافر نے اس آخریبسکٹ کو دو حصوں میں تقسیم کر کے آدھا خود اٹھا لیا اور آدھا اس کیلئے چھوڑ دیا تھا۔ خاتون کیلئے اس سے بڑھ کراہانت کی گنجائش نہیں رہتی تھی۔ آدھے بسکٹ کو وہیں ڈبے میں چھوڑ کر، کتاب کو بند کرتے ہوئے، اٹھ کر غصے سے پاؤں پٹختی امیگریشن سے ہوتی ہوئی جہاز کی طرف چل پڑی۔

جہاز میں کرسی پر بیٹھ کر اپنے دستی تھیلے کو اس میں سےعینک نکالنے کیلئے کھولا تو یہ دیکھ کر حیرت سے اس کی جان ہی نکل گئی کہ اس کا خریدا ہوا بسکٹ کا ڈبہ تو جوں کا توں تھیلے میں بند رکھا ہوا تھا۔ندامت اور شرمندگی سے اس کا برا حال ہو رہا تھا۔ اسے اب پتہ چل رہا تھا کہ وہ ہوائی اڈے پر بسکٹ اس شخص کے ڈبے سے نکال کر کھاتی رہی تھی۔

اب دیر سے اسے محسوس ہو رہا تھا کہ وہ شخص کس قدر ایک مہذب اور رحمدل انسان تھا، جس نے کسی شکوے اور ہچکچاہٹ کے بغیر اپنے ڈبے سے اسے بسکٹ کھانے کو دیئے تھے۔ وہ جس قدر اس موضوع پر سوچتی اسی قدر شرمدنگیاور خجالت بڑھتی جا رہی تھی۔
اس شرمندگی اور خجالت کا اب مداوا کیا ہو سکتا تھا، اس کے پاس تو اتنا وقت نہ تھا کہ جا کر اس آدمی کو ڈھونڈھے، اس سے معذرت کرے، اپنی بے ذوقی اور بے ادبی کی معافی مانگے، یا اس کی اعلٰی قدری کا شکریہ ادا کرے۔اسی لیے کہتے ہیں کہ کسی کے بارے میں رائے قائم کرنے میں جلدی نہیں کرنی چاہیے کیونکہ ضروری نہیں کہ آپ کی قائم کی ہوئی رائے ہی ٹھیک ہو

اس پِنجرے میں انہوں نے ایک سیڑھی اور اسکے اوپر کچھ کیلے بھی رکھے،جب کوئی بندر سیڑھی پر چڑھنا شروع کرتا تو سائنسداں نیچے کھڑے ہو کر اس بندر پر ٹھنڈا پانی برسانا شروع کر دیتے -اس واقعے کے بعد جب بھی کوئی بندر کیلوں کی لالچ میں اوپر جانے کی کوشش کرتا تو نیچے کھڑے ہوئے بندر اسکو سیڑھی پر چڑھنے نہ دیتے کچھ دیر کے بعد کیلوں کے لالچ کے باوجود کوئی بھی بندر سیڑھی پر چڑھنے کی ہمت نہیں کر پا رہا تھا۔

سائنسدانوں نے فیصلہ کیا کہ ان میں سے ایک بندر کو بدل دیا جائے۔ پہلی چیز جو نئے آنے والے بندر نے کی وہ سیڑھی پر چڑھنا تھا لیکن فورا ہی اسے دوسرے بندروں نے مارنا شروع کر دیا - کئی دفعہ پٹنے کے بعد نئے آنے والے بندر نے ہمیشہ کے لئے طے کر لیا کہ وہ سیڑھی پر نہیں چڑھے گا۔ لیکن اسے یہ معلوم نہیں تھا کہ آخر کیوں مارا جاتا ہے۔

سائنسدانوں نے ایک اور بندر تبدیل کیا اور اسکا بھی یہی حشر ہوا -اور مزے کہ بات یہ ہے کہ اس سے پہلے تبدیل ہونے والا بندر بھی اسے مارنے والوں میں شامل تھا - اسکے بعد تیسرے بندر کو تبدیل کیا گیا اور اسکا بھی یہی حشر (پٹائی) ہوا - یہاں تک کہ سارے پرانے بندر نئے بندر سے تبدیل ہو گئے اور سب کے ساتھ یہی سلوک ہوتا رہا -اب پِنجرے میں صرف نئے بندر رہ گئے جس پر کبھی سائنسدانوں نے بارش نہیں برسائی لیکن پھر بھی وہ سیڑھی پر چڑھنے والے بندر کی پٹائی کرتے -اگر یہ ممکن ہوتا کہ بندروں سے پوچھا جائے کہ تم کیوں سیڑھی پر چڑھنے والے بندر کو مارتے ہو یقیناً وہ جواب دینگیں کہ ہمیں نہیں معلوم ؟ ہم نے تو سب کو ایسے ہی کرتے دیکھا ہے

اس بات کو ضرور دوسروں کو سمجھائيے تاکہ وہ بھی اپنے آپ سے سوال کریں کہ ہم اپنی زندگی کیوں ایسے گزار رہے ہیں جیسا کہ وہ گزر رہی ہے ہم وہ کیوں کرنے لگ جاتے ہیں جو دوسروں کو کرتے ہوئے دیکھتے ہیں کیا ہمارے پاس زندگی گزارنے کے لیے کوئی لائحہ عمل موجود نہیں ہے کیا ہمارے پاس ہدایت کا سر چشمہ قرآن مجید موجود نہیں کیا اللہ کے پیارے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہر ہر معاملے میں ہماری رہنمائی نہیں فرمائی۔

تو کیا وجہ ہے کہ ہم لوگ بھیڑ چال کا شکار ہو جاتے ہیں اور کسی عمل کو کرنے کی یہ دلیل دیتے ہیں کہ سب ہی کر رہے ہیں ہم نے کرلیا تو کیا ہوگیا ۔"
